FAQs

Q: What is a Private Cloud?
A:

Private Clouds are often used when security is of the upmost importance, applications and services cannot be hosted within a Public Cloud such as Azure, there is no SaaS offering or critical applications that require enhanced control.

Arc’s Private Cloud offers every customer dedicated resources to their IT environment.

Simply put it’s the equivalent of a on-premise environment with all the advantages of below:-

More flexibility – your business can customise its environment to meet specific needs.

More control – resources are not shared with others, so higher levels of security, control and privacy are possible.

Cost-effective scalability – private clouds offer more cost-effective scalability compared to Public Cloud and on-prem infrastructures.

Q: What is a Public Cloud?
A:

Cloud resources (like servers and storage) are owned and operated by a third-party cloud service provider. With a public cloud, all hardware, software, and other supporting infrastructure are owned and managed by the cloud service provider. Microsoft Azure is an example of a Public Cloud. In a Public Cloud, you share the same hardware, storage and network devices with other organisations or cloud “tenants”. Public Cloud deployments are frequently used to provide email, online office applications, storage, and testing and development environments.

Q: What is a Hybrid Cloud?
A:

Hybrid cloud refers to a mixed computing, storage, and services environment made up of on-premises infrastructure, Private Cloud services, and a Public Cloud (such as Microsoft Azure) with orchestration among the various platforms.

Q: What Cloud Computing Services are right for my business?
A:

We offer Arc’s Private Cloud, Desktop as a Service (DaaS), Azure services, and a Hybrid Cloud (mixture of on-prem, Private Cloud and Azure/O365 services) It is quite normal for customers to deploy an element of all of these services.  There is no one type of cloud computing that is right for every business. Several different cloud computing models, types and services have evolved to meet the rapidly changing technology needs of business.

We offer a Proof-of-concept service to ensure you choose the correct Cloud service to fit your business.

Q: How durable is my data and estate in Arc’s Private Cloud?
A:

Arc’s Private Cloud is designed for 99.9% uptime which is appropriate for primary services and business-critical applications. This high durability level is achieved through redundant infrastructure built and located in multiple datacentres. All customer estates are replicated and backed up and stored in multiple locations.

Q: Will my Public & Private Cloud environments be backed up?
A:

Yes as with on-prem servers & infrastructure our fully managed ARCVault backup service protects all customer servers hosted within the Arc Private Cloud & Azure Cloud and any Office 365 data including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and OneDrive.

Q: Do you offer a proof of concept to evaluate your Cloud services?
A:

Yes we can build you a test development environment to experience our platform for proof of concept purposes. For example, if you have an application that needs to be migrated to cloud infrastructure, we can offer a free assessment to easily help you POC and then build a plan for any Cloud migration.

Q: What Service-Level-Agreements (SLAs) do you offer?
A:

Our Arc Private Cloud platform is 24/7/365 monitored. Our standard SLA is 1hr.

Q: How do I know if Cloud is right for my business?
A:

Businesses choose to migrate to the cloud for several reasons. The benefits of flexibility, scalability, cost savings, etc. are weighed against availability concerns. It is important to evaluate if cloud is right for you from a strategic and operational perspective. Does your demand for IT vary throughout the year? Are the costs of your IT impacting your ability to grow as a business? If so, you may consider a cloud option that can be easily scaled.

You should also evaluate your current IT set-up to understand the benefits of moving to the cloud, especially in the following areas:

Service – how important are security, reliability, and flexibility to your business? Is your current solution meeting your needs? Is there room for improvement?

Technology landscape – how many business users are there? What is the geographic distribution of your user base? Do your employees require remote access?

Cost – Are you satisfied with the costs of your on-premises solution? Are the costs to scale up or upgrade services acceptable?

Ease of migration – when did you last invest in significant capital expenditure? Do you have any contractual and vendor commitments that constrain migration?
