Engineers Against Poverty
EAP works across more than 30 countries to support large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, dams and other development projects.
The client
Engineers Against Poverty (EAP) is a UK-based development organisation working to reduce poverty through better infrastructure and engineering projects in developing countries.
Their focus is on making infrastructure more transparent and sustainable while creating greater social and economic benefits for people living in poverty.
Working alongside engineers, governments and businesses, they help to improve the way infrastructure projects are planned and delivered.
The challenge
EAP works across more than 30 countries to support large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, dams and other development projects.
Arc has worked with Engineers Against Poverty since 2017. We originally came onboard to provide IT services through a support contract.
Over time, our relationship has developed and we now support the EAP’s global workforce and wider IT requirements.
The solution
We provide ongoing IT support for EAP’s global workforce, with a focus on keeping their systems, secure, reliable and well managed.
As the relationship has developed, we have delivered a number of projects to strengthen and modernise their technology.
This has included introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA), upgrading their security to managed detection response (MDR) and supporting SharePoint projects, while maintaining a regular laptop refresh cycle to ensure staff have reliable and up-to-date devices.
As EAP has moved away from formal office locations, their technology requirements have evolved with them.
Where we previously supported leased lines and firewalls across their offices, the focus is now on proving secure and resilient technology for a global, distributed workforce.
“Arc has been a valued partner to EAP for many years, supporting us through significant changes in our organisation and technology environment.”
Therese Bateson, Senior Finance Manager
The results
The partnership has delivered tangible improvements across EAP’s IT environment:
Responsive IT support: Arc has provided ongoing support across EAP’s global workforce, resolving over 100 IT support requests from team members based around the world, providing a consistent point of contact for all staff.
Stronger security posture: continued investment in endpoint protection, MFA and MDR has strengthened EAP’s overall security.
Reliable, up-to-date technology: a regular 3–4 year laptop refresh cycle helps ensure staff have reliable devices and reduces the risks associated with ageing hardware.
A more independent email environment: the latest Mimecast project has established a standalone tenant, supporting the next stage of EAP’s technology roadmap.
The result is a technology environment that can continue to evolve with EAP, supported by a long-standing partnership and a clear roadmap for the future.
Therese Bateson, Senior Finance Manager, said: “Arc has been a valued partner to EAP for many years, supporting us through significant changes in our organisation and technology environment. Their understanding of our global business allows us to have open conversations, explore different options and find the right approach for what we need.”
